Dr. Marty Hernandez has been affiliated with Banner Health since he went into private practice three years ago. While completing his residency, he began to research hospitals and physician recruitment in the Phoenix area.

“Banner’s got such a good reputation in the community. I was really impressed with the reputation. Patient care was a priority. It’s what I believe in, so it was a perfect match,” he said.

With the growth in the West Valley, Dr. Hernandez chose to open a practice in West Phoenix and in less than a year and a half had so many patients that he started turning new patients away. As a Spanish speaker, he is able to better communicate with the Hispanic population.

He enjoys the balance that private practice provides, allowing him to be his own boss, and see as many patients as he chooses. “Banner puts such an emphasis on patient care and I think that rubs off on the doctors,” he said.

Dr. Hernandez prefers to have a smaller practice so he can spend more time with his patients and provide quality care.

Dr. Hernandez is the proud father of two young sons. His wife shares his passion for medicine and is an OB/GYN.
