Medical Specialty: Anesthesiology
“I was born, raised, and schooled in Arizona. This is home, and I anticipate staying here, enjoying the hospitals where I’ve practiced since I started my practice.
My medical career began with Banner Health in 1995 when I joined the medical staff of Banner Desert Medical Center in Mesa, Arizona. Not long after, I joined the staff of Banner Thunderbird Medical Center in Glendale, where I continue to work with patients of all ages. I have literally cared for patients from one month to 98 years old.
I think Banner Health has allowed me to practice my best medicine. The nurses, physicians and other clinicians are friendly, supportive, and dedicated to delivering excellent patient care on a daily basis. I just really appreciate the opportunity to work in a hospital that values patients, patient care, and patient safety so highly.
I’ve also taken advantage of leadership opportunities at this fast-growing hospital. After serving four years as the anesthesia department chairperson, I was honored to be invited to join the hospital’s Professional Review Committee last year.
Even with a busy medical practice and my leadership roles at the hospital, it isn’t all work, no play. I still have time to enjoy my two greatest loves: family and cooking. My husband and I both enjoy cooking. We recently rebuilt our home to include a large contemporary kitchen with commercial-quality appliances. Now it also serves as a racetrack for my 13-month-old who goes around and around and around the new kitchen island.
We also enjoy travel and Arizona’s beautiful outdoors. But while a hike to the top of Camelback Mountain or Piestewa Peak certainly brings a sense of accomplishment, it’s nothing like the satisfaction I get working with patients and the medical students who train in Banner Health hospitals.
I like to remind patients and students that physicians can be patients too, and we want to take care of people the way we would want to be taken care of. Every time I interact with a patient, I have the opportunity to express that compassion and empathy.”
